scrane3Greetings from Stephen Crane:

The Asbury Tales

There is an undeniable attraction to Asbury Park. But what is the essence that causes this vibe? A place is just a place; it is the people that inhabit it that create its soul.

Stephen Crane lived in Asbury as the town was becoming. His spirit, indomitable, fierce, provocative and visionary, is a component of the quintessence of Asbury today.

His home, against all odds has survived intact and is a museum. The owner, Frank D’Alessandro, writes the challenging newspaper articles that Stephen was known and ultimately barred for.

Bruce Springsteen, the embodiment of passion, parallels Stephen’s quest to awaken others through his work.

Daniel Wolff, inspired in part by Stephen’s view of the town, “as a symbol of the young nation’s hope and its hypocrisy,” was called to write 4th of July, Asbury Park, A History of the Promised Land.

Greetings from Stephen Crane: The Asbury Tales offers the viewer an opportunity to experience the spirit Stephen brought to Asbury Park, in its many incarnations-past, present and future, as Asbury itself transforms.
